Jeanneau 54DS

Skipper and Hostess/Chef couple

Requirement.

Skipper and hostess couples are required as crew for our fleet of four Jeanneau 54DS’s.

The yachts will be based in the Western Mediterranean throughout the year.

Skippers must be qualified to RYA YachtMaster with Commercial Endorsement. Although no specific qualifications are required of the hostesses, they must be excellent cooks and experienced sailors. Evidence of formal cookery training is preferred. Some spoken French would be an asset and a willingness to learn French is essential.

The successful applicants should be available to start work at the beginning of April in order to allow time for familiarisation and training before sailing with their first charter guests at the end of May.

The People.

Ideally aged in their 20s to mid 30s (or with suitable experience and outlook), couples should have sailed together extensively either as a hobby or professionally. They should have a relaxed, easy-going nature and be capable of getting on with a wide variety of people. At the same time, beneath their relaxed nature must be a strong work ethic and they should be prepared to go to great lengths in order to ensure that their guests have the holiday of a lifetime. They should want to meet people and find it rewarding to help others enjoy themselves.

Whilst aspects of the job can be very glamorous, the successful couple will be content to ‘get their hands dirty’ as they will be responsible for the everyday cleaning and maintenance of the yacht. A basic understanding of marine engines and electrics is expected.

This position would suit those who would like to develop their careers in yachting, making the most of the opportunity that joining a small but growing company can provide. Above all, they must be ready to work hard and have fun at the same time.

The Company.

Dream Sailing Limited is a yacht charter specialist established in 2003. The company serves a growing market for luxury, fully crewed yacht charters on both sailing and motor yachts in excess of 55ft.

Dream Sailing provides a friendly, approachable service from the client’s initial enquiry and throughout the delivery of their holiday. The objective is to have delighted clients who become friends; “Nothing was too much trouble” is the sentiment we like to hear them expressing! On this basis, we believe that the business will flourish naturally.

The Directors.

Alan and Michelle both quit successful careers in senior management several years ago in order to change their lifestyle, and now live near to Port Grimaud on the Cote d’Azur . They crewed their first yacht, DreamCatcher, through her first Mediterranean season and the business has grown rapidly from there.

Alan and Michelle’s prime objective is to enjoy life and have fun whilst earning a living. Experience so far has shown that it’s very easy to have a great time whilst you’re helping others to do the same and, if you get that part right, earning a living happens naturally.

Remuneration.

This is subject to negotiation and dependent upon experience.
